My Coming Out Journey
Posted by Ross

Hi everyone and welcome to my first blog!

Many thanks to Bonnie and Kelsey for letting me know about this feature.

I'm going to keep the first blog short, just a meet and greet. I'm Ross and I thought it would be kind of cool to blog with you as I continue in my own journey of coming out (in my own way). At this point I'm actually more than halfway there. I am dating, changing my religion (they don't accept us) and hopefully making some new friends.

I guess my journey actually started a few years ago when I stopped living in denial and started to learn to accept myself as who I am. I'll get into more of that soon but it is quite an adventure. It's exciting, emotional, happy and sad at times. I'm sure many of you have gone through or are going through the same problems I am so it's great we can share this together. So fasten your seat belts, lol.

First of all I am actually planning on returning to New Jersey by August 1st from Boston. Again, I'll explain more later but I always wanted to work in LGBTQ so I was living in CT. I heard about this job and packed everything I had to move here about 4 months ago. Again, I guess this is all a learning process for me. I have learned very quickly that just because it's LGBTQ doesn't mean it will all be a "rose garden". My boss was not the nicest to say the least and I was let go this past Friday. I can't tell you how much that hurt. Have you ever been "let go" by your job and you're just in a daze, numb and in shock? I think as I get older I deal with it a little bit better. I really don't know Boston that well but I did know where the famous Boston Library was which was not far from my job. As I cleaned out my desk and left I made my way there. What a beautiful place? Absolutely amazing? If you don't believe me google it. I'm a library fiend but this even amazed me! Anyway, I sat down and got myself together and decided that I want to come home to Jersey. My family will let me stay with them for a while as I look for work. Stay tuned! Looking forward to this so much.

Cheers!

Ross:)
