Parsippany, NJ – In a post to its website, www.cecalacareer.com and on LinkedIn.com, Paul Cecala, Chief Career Navigator and owner of Cecala Career Consultants, announces the formation of a peer led strategic career support group for the LGBTQ+ community.

OUTstanding Careers Group™ is a place for LGBTQ+ professionals to discuss ways of advancing their careers whether currently seeking employment, looking to get promoted, or to simply keep the position they have. There is no cost for joining the group, just a commitment to working with other professionals on career success. Most participants in similar groups are members for ten to twelve meetings before gaining the assistance they need and moving on.

While Paul Cecala, a certified career coach, will facilitate the group, it will be mainly peer led. The format will be that each participant will have an equal amount of time to share their current career situation followed by sharing a question or challenge the group can assist them in resolving.

Cecala says, “Over the past 20 years, I have seen this format work very well in helping folks find the best practices in real-time for real-world situations they come across professionally.” He states it works best in small groups of 6-10 participants, hence he will start with one group, but if demand requires, he can open a second or more groups as needed.

OUTstanding Careers Group™ will meet virtually on the first and third Thursday evenings of each month from 5:00 to 6:30pm with the inaugural meeting on Thurs, October 21st. To obtain zoom access, individuals should email Cecala at Pcecala@cecalacareer.com and note OUTstanding Careers Group™ in the subject line.

Cecala, an openly gay man himself, wants to give back to the LGBTQ+ community by hosting the group OUTstanding Careers Group™. He has experienced first-hand some of the discrimination and bullying that many LGBTQ+ people experience in their careers from hiding their true self, lying about their personal life, being passed by for career advancement, and even losing a job at least in part because of his sexuality.

“I want to provide a forum where we can share our experiences, but more importantly, find the best practices to prevent or get past these discriminatory corporate and cultural scenarios that place the LGBTQ+ community among the most financially vulnerable in our society,” says Cecala for why he is forming this group.
